WHAT DRIVES US

We believe that through light and colour our world can be a more joyful place. If there’s a window filled with dull obscured glass, then we are here to put things right and bring beauty and colour into your life by creating stunning work for you. Both David and Steve grew up surrounded by colour, just as you did, but we were compelled to do something with that. So, setting out on very different paths they each found coloured glass, the one and only medium that brings the joy and moods of light together with colour in a way that can enhance your world.

OUR POLICY

To provide you with a stunning, artistically beautiful, addition to your home. Or, give you back the beauty what was diminishing through neglect of an existing piece of stained glass.

YOUR GUARANTEE

Commisions

We will provide you with full details of the design and changes to it throughout the process of commissioning a piece of glass art. You will be given the opportunity to get involved from the ground up with both design and the choices of glass used. You will be consulted at ever change in the design process and advised of any changes to estimated prices before the design is finalised. We will ensure that you are happy with any alterations as we proceed throughout the design process and ensure that you fully understand what we are offering.

Once completed, any commissioned window is guaranteed against defect for a period of 5 years. If we have installed it then the installation process if also guaranteed. If you collect the window from us for installation by others we do not cover the process of installation or any subsequent deterioration due to incorrect or poor installation, nor damage due to miss-handling.

Restorations

Restored windows also carry a 5 year guarantee against defect to the restoration work only. Any deterioration in either original lead of glass is not covered by the guarantee.

Triple-glazed Units

These cannot be guaranteed against moisture entering the units as there is a foreign body (the stained glass panel) within them. We can only say that none that have been made since 2007 have ever caused any problems.

OUR VALUES

We believe that we should be aware of our impact on the earth and at all times take care to reduce wastage through recycling and reducing our carbon footprint. To do this we endeavour to always act in the ways listed below.

Glass

There is always scrap glass and it is has an intrinsic beauty to it. To give that beauty another life all our scrap glass goes to Resilica in Newhaven, East Sussex. They use it in fabulous applications for bars and restaurants, kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, flooring, shop fittings, public seating and architectural features.

Paper & Plastic

The paper we use for printing designs and maps at the Brighton studio gets recycled by Paper Round. All paper received with a blank reverse is used for printing on, before being recycled. Likewise all recyclable types 2 and 4 plastic are recycled the same way.

Packaging

Cardboard and plastic-based packaging that our glass and other materials arrive in at the Sussex studio are reused by a Brighton based internet shopping business, Everydaythings.co.uk.

Lead

Scrap lead from both restorations and commissions at the Sussex studio is recycled by Geo E Richardson and Sons. The Midlands studio uses Taroni’s of Birmingham and like the Brighton studio, scrap is taken there just once a year.

Wood

Wood used for transporting lead and windows is either offered to the Wood recycling Project, or reused in the same way as the glass for temporary glazing. Eventually it is passed on to be chopped down and used as fire wood.

Reducing our Carbon Footprint

Simply Stained Glass is signed up to Brighton & Hove’s 10:10 scheme.
