This
is the first of four windows depicting views from the sea around the
East Sussex coast. Here the Spectrum Waterglasses have been
cut for both the estuary and sky at Cuckmere Haven. |

|
|
|

|
For
the sun, we have chosen another glass from Spectrum, an opaque one
with a swirled mix of two yellows and white. |
Then
the concrete depicting the concrete sea wall and white and grey fishermen's'
cottages appear. Again all these glasses are made by
Spectrum. The white is an opaque 'cathedral', the grey an
opalescent and the roofs are an Amber/Red Wispy with a granite
finish. |

|
|

|
And
the greenery starts to grow. In this case a mixed green
opalescent Dynasty glass for the bushes. |
| And
a light green Dynasty for the 'sheep-mown' grass. |

|
|

|
Finally
the beach which is a Youghiogheny. Now it's all cut and ready
for leading together. |
| We
started at the bottom when constructing this window, adding
'Strongline, a flexible strengthening bar into the cames that ran
from one side of the panel to the other. |

|
|

|
Here
you can see the chimneys. They were made using 12mm wide lead
cames. The heart of the lead is cut out so that the faces can
slide over the glass depicting the grassed areas. |
| Here
the panel is almost complete. Again 'Strongline' has been used
in the groin and along the brow of the hills. The only bits
left to add are the rest of the sky and the sun, before the panel is
soldered and cemented.
Normally both sides
are soldered before being cemented, but as this panel is rather
large it will be soldered and cemented on the first side before
being turned over for work on the second.
The other three
windows that go with this one will be shown here in a few weeks
time. |
