IN THE STUDIO

This is one of our latest projects that we recorded.  More pictures may appear as the days go by on a project, or they may all be loaded at one time.  Once a project is finished, it will at sometime get replaced here and the may move on to another page on the website

We made the original window for the client some years ago and when they decided to add another storey to their home the window was going to be cut across with the new staircase.  So they decided to have it made smaller and the remaining third (shown here) incorporated into another window for the new storey.  Here you can see the piece of glass for the new portion laid out with the original in the top left corner.

In this photo we are laying each piece of glass in place once it has been wrapped in copper foil.

This is a Foil-o-matic 500 made by Deagel in the USA.  It separates the copper foil from it's paper backing and allows you to accurately line the glass up onto the centre of the foil. It's extremely useful and saves a lot of time and hassle.

All the pieces of glass are now foiled end ready to be soldered together with the original section soldered into the top corner.

We start by fluxing the entire length of the copper surrounding each piece of glass and then run solder along it building up a small bead to mimic lead came.

And here is the panel soldered on the first side.  It must then be turned over and soldered on the reverse as well.

This is the finished article sitting on the light box awaiting the client.
