FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can you create anything in stained glass?

Yes, just about. Both two and three dimensional items can be made. The one thing that is very difficult to do is inside tight curves or right angles.  The glass tends to have too high a stress factor at these points and may over time crack, so some windows (like Celtic designs) need more joints than others.

Do you run classes?

Yes, usually every other month for beginners, at various times for those more experienced, click on the link at the bottom of the page names 'Courses'.

Can we visit the studio?

Yes, please do, but phone first on 07796-141180 to make sure that someone is there to meet you. If you do visit the studio, please be aware that it is a working studio and as such may a bit 'grubby', so please do not wear smart clothes or bring dogs as there will be small pieces of glass on the floor!

Is commissioning a stained glass window expensive?

Stained glass items are not cheap. By their very nature they are labour intensive and therefore you are paying for a lot of labour and artistic flair. Also the price of glass differs, starting around £30 and rising to over £400 per square metre. Although size matters, the complexity of your desired design is the major factor determining the cost.

The cost of a simple leaded window starts from £80 per square foot.
